# Sign In to ChimeEdu with an Email Link (No Password)

> Forgot your ChimeEdu password? Request a one-time sign-in link by email and get into your account without resetting anything.

If you can't remember your password, you don't have to reset it. ChimeEdu can email you a **one-time sign-in link**: open it and you're signed in. This works for teachers, students, and institution staff, and it's the quickest option when a whole class needs to get back in at once.

  A sign-in link is a good fit for classroom devices too. Students can sign in from the email on their phone or school account without ever typing a password on a shared computer.

## How to get a sign-in link

    Visit [app.chimeedu.com/login](https://app.chimeedu.com/login).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Enter your email address">
    Type the email address you registered with in the **Email** field. Leave the password empty.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Choose Email me a sign-in link">
    Click **Email me a sign-in link** under the Sign In button. You'll see a "Check your email" message.

  <Step title="Open the link from your email">
    Open the message from ChimeEdu titled **Your ChimeEdu sign-in link** and click **Sign in to ChimeEdu**. You'll land on your dashboard, signed in. If you don't see the email within a couple of minutes, check your spam or junk folder.

## Good to know

* **Links expire after 15 minutes** and work **once**. If a link has expired or was already used, go back to the sign-in page and request a new one.
* **Open the link on the device you want to use.** The link signs in the browser it's opened in. If you request it on a laptop but open the email on your phone, your phone is the device that gets signed in.
* **Two-factor authentication still applies.** If your account has 2FA turned on, you'll be asked for your authenticator code after the link is checked.
* **Your password doesn't change.** A sign-in link is just another way in. You can keep using your password, or [reset it](/help/account-and-login#forgot-your-password) whenever you like.
* **It confirms your email.** If you never clicked the confirmation link from your welcome email, signing in with a link takes care of that too.
* **Didn't request a link?** You can ignore the email. Nobody can sign in to your account without opening the link in that message.

## Sign-in links in the classroom

Each account can request up to five links every 15 minutes, and a school network can request up to 100 an hour. That's sized so a full class can sign in together. If you do see a "too many requests" message, wait a few minutes and try again.

## Still can't sign in?

* The email address you enter must be the one on your ChimeEdu account. A typo in the address means the link goes nowhere, but for privacy the page shows the same "Check your email" message either way.
* Student accounts that are waiting for a parent or guardian's permission can't sign in yet, with a link or a password. Ask your teacher if you're not sure.
