# The Institution Resource Library

> Share activities and study guides made by your teachers so every teacher in the institution can copy them into their own account.

The **Resource library** is a shared shelf for your institution. An Institution Admin adds activities and study guides that your own teachers have built; every teacher linked to your campuses then sees them under **Institution Library** in the teacher app and can copy any of them into their own account to use and adapt.

Teachers see the library on **app.chimeedu.com**, not here. This page is where staff decide what goes on the shelf.

## Adding a resource

<Steps>
  <Step title="Choose Add resource">
    Pick **Activities** or **Study Guides**, then search your teachers' content by title.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add">
    The item appears in the library immediately. Only content owned by a teacher of your institution can be added; archived and temporary activities are excluded.
  </Step>
</Steps>

Nothing is copied when you add an item — the library points at the teacher's original. Teachers make their own copies when they choose to.

## What teachers get when they copy

A copy is a fresh, independent activity or study guide owned by the copying teacher. Classroom links aren't copied, and a map's activity password isn't carried over. From then on the two are separate: edits to the original don't reach the copies.

The copying teacher's **own plan** applies: their activity limit counts the copy, Graphs & Charts and Diagrams need Plus or Premium, and study guides need Premium. Sharing to the library doesn't unlock anything for a Free teacher.

## Availability

An item shows **Unavailable** when its source can no longer be copied — the teacher archived or deleted it, or they're no longer linked to your institution. Teachers don't see unavailable items. Remove them here to keep the list tidy.

## Removing a resource

**Remove** takes the item off the shelf. Copies teachers already made are theirs and are unaffected. Leaders can view the library but not change it.

<Tip>
  Adoption on the [Performance](/staff/performance-and-adoption) page counts how many times teachers have copied from the library.

## Subject and grade band tags

Each resource can carry a **subject** and **grade band** (the same lists classrooms use) and a short note teachers see on the card. Set them as you add — the Add dialog has *Tag items as you add them* — or later from **Details** on a row. Teachers can then filter the Institution Library by subject and grade.
