# Graded Activities: Due Dates, Submitting, and Your Results

> What it means when a ChimeEdu activity is graded — due dates, submitting your work, what locks and when, and how to see your grade and feedback.

Some activities your teacher assigns are **graded**. You'll know because the activity shows a **due date** on your dashboard, and a status chip that tracks where you stand — from "In progress" all the way to "Results ready."

Here's how the whole cycle works.

## Before the due date: do your work

Open the activity and work exactly the way you always do — add your pins to the map, build your timeline, fill in your diagram or chart, study your flash cards. The due date is shown at the top of the activity while you work.

Your status chip shows **In progress** once you've started.

## Submitting your work

When you're done, press **Submit your work** in the activity. ChimeEdu asks you to confirm — because after you submit:

* Your work is **locked**. You can still look at everything, but you can't change it.
* Your status changes to **Submitted**.

  **Submitting is final** (unless your teacher reopens it — see below). Make sure you're actually done before you confirm.

A few activity types work slightly differently:

* **Group activities** — if you're working in a group, any member can submit, and it submits for the **whole group**. Everyone's editing locks together, and your teacher can see who pressed Submit.
* **Flash cards** — submitting means "I'm done studying." Your study progress for that deck is frozen where you left it.
* **Fill-in-the-blank** — a graded fill-in-the-blank asks you to **sign in** first, and you get **one attempt**. When you submit your answers, that's your submission.

## If the due date passes

If you haven't submitted when the due date arrives, the activity locks and your status shows **Incomplete** (you started but didn't submit) or **Missed** (you never started).

Don't panic — talk to your teacher. They can **reopen** your work so you can finish, even after the due date.

## Getting your grade

After you submit, your teacher reviews and grades your work. You won't see anything until they **release** your results — then your status chip changes to **Results ready**.

Click it (or the **View your results** link inside the activity) to open your results page, which shows:

* Your **grade** — a letter, a percentage, or both, depending on how your teacher set it up
* Your teacher's written **feedback**
* When you submitted and when results were released

  If your chip still says **Submitted**, your teacher just hasn't released results yet. Grades are never visible before the teacher sends them.

## Status chips at a glance

| Chip          | What it means                              |
| ------------- | ------------------------------------------ |
| In progress   | You've started; keep going                 |
| Submitted     | Turned in — waiting on your teacher        |
| Results ready | Your grade and feedback are ready to view  |
| Incomplete    | The due date passed before you submitted   |
| Missed        | The due date passed and you hadn't started |

## Common questions

    Not on your own — ask your teacher to **reopen** your submission. That unlocks your work so you can keep going and submit again.

  <Accordion title="Can other students see my work or my grade?">
    No. Your work, your grade, and your feedback are between you and your teacher. In a group activity, your group shares the work and the grade — but other groups can't see it.

  <Accordion title="The activity won't let me edit anymore. Why?">
    Either you (or a group member) submitted, or the due date passed. The banner in the activity tells you which. If you need to keep working, ask your teacher to reopen it.
