If your school is not yet an institution on ChimeEdu, a school leader or IT person can bring it on board themselves. Open **Account settings → Your institution → Bring your school onto ChimeEdu**, or go to `app.chimeedu.com/institution/claim`. ## What you need first Claiming a school is a high-trust action, so ChimeEdu checks a few things before it starts: * an educator or administrator account (not a student account) with a confirmed email address; * **two-step verification or a passkey** on your account; * an email address on the school's domain; * the school not already administered on ChimeEdu — if it is, ask its admin to invite you. If anything is missing, the page says exactly what, with a link to fix it. ## Three ways to prove it Add one TXT record at your DNS provider, then press **Check now**. Approval is automatic when the record is found. Publish a small text file on the school website. Approval is automatic when the file is found. No DNS or website access? Point us at the public staff page that lists you and your role, plus a work phone. ChimeEdu reviews and emails you either way. A claim stays open for 14 days. You can withdraw it at any time from **Your claims** on the same page. ## After approval You become the institution's first **Institution Admin**. Sign in at **staff.chimeedu.com** to walk through the [Setup Guide](/staff/setup-guide): verification, campuses, your look, your team, your teachers, network and library. Other admins of the institution (if any) are told that you verified control of the domain.
