# Link Google Drive Files to Your ChimeEdu Classroom

> Link your institution's Google Drive to ChimeEdu to attach files and folders to classrooms, activities, and study guides — no duplication needed.

ChimeEdu's Google Drive integration lets you link files and folders from your institution's Drive directly to your classrooms and content — without duplicating a single file. Your students always see the most current version, and when you update a file in Drive, ChimeEdu reflects the change automatically.

## How it works

When you connect Google Drive to ChimeEdu, you're creating live links — not copies. ChimeEdu reads the file or folder from Drive each time a student accesses it, which means:

* **Always current** — edits you make in Drive are immediately reflected on ChimeEdu. There's no need to re-upload or re-attach anything.
* **Never duplicated** — files live in Drive where your whole team can manage them. ChimeEdu simply provides the link to students at the right moment.
* **Automatic name sync** — if you rename a file in Drive, ChimeEdu updates the display name automatically. Your students always see the correct filename.

## Connect Google Drive to a classroom

    Open the classroom you want to connect Drive to, then navigate to its **Settings** panel.

    Find the **Google Drive** section in your classroom settings and click **Connect Google Drive**.

  <Step title="Authenticate with your institution Google account">
    A Google sign-in prompt will appear. Sign in with the Google account associated with your institution's Drive. ChimeEdu only requests the permissions it needs to browse and attach files — it never modifies or deletes your Drive content.

  <Step title="Browse and attach files or folders">
    Once authenticated, browse your Drive directly from ChimeEdu. Select the files or folders you want to attach to the classroom, then confirm your selection. The attached resources appear immediately in your classroom for enrolled students.

<Tip>
  Attach an entire **folder** rather than individual files to give students access to a whole set of resources at once — for example, a unit folder containing lesson notes, worksheets, and reference documents. When you add new files to the folder in Drive, they become available in ChimeEdu automatically.

## Where you can use Google Drive

Once you've connected Google Drive to your account, you can attach Drive files and folders across ChimeEdu — not just in classrooms:

    Embed Drive folders and files inside study guide sections so students have everything they need to revise in one structured place.
