# Tag Activities, Assessments and Questions to the TEKS

> Attach Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills to activities, assessments, study guides and individual questions, search by standard, and see standards on public pages.

ChimeEdu carries the **Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills** as published by the Texas Education Agency, straight from TEA's machine-readable TEKS. You can attach standards to an activity, an assessment, a study guide, and to each question inside an assessment or a quiz. Standards show as small chips wherever the content appears, and they are searchable.

## Where to add standards

Click **Add standards** (or **Edit standards** once some are attached). Pick a subject and a grade or course, or search by code (`8.7B`) or by words (`photosynthesis`), tick the Student Expectations that apply, and **Save standards**. Up to 20 per item.

  Tag questions, not just the assessment. Question-level standards are what let the platform work out mastery per standard. An assessment-level tag is a good summary; the question-level tags are the evidence.

## Reading a chip

A chip shows the short code teachers use, such as **8.7B** for Grade 8 social studies, **A.2A** for Algebra I, or **US.2B** for United States History. Hover it for the full statement and the TEA reference (`113.20.c.7.B`). On the assessment Questions list the chips are compact, so you can scan coverage at a glance.

## Who sees them

* **Teachers** see and edit chips on their own content.
* **Students and families** see read-only chips on the public activity, assessment and study guide pages, so it's clear what a task covers.
* **Search** finds content by standard code, so typing `8.7B` in the search bar surfaces everything tagged with it.

## Which standards are included

Every TEKS subject TEA publishes in English: English Language Arts and Reading, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Languages Other Than English, Health, Physical Education, Fine Arts, Technology Applications, Career and Technical Education, Spanish Language Arts and ESL, and the "Other" chapter. Only the current adopted versions are loaded, and the codes are TEA's own, so they match what appears in district documents and instructional materials.

    No. The statements come from TEA and are shown exactly as adopted. If a standard is missing, it's usually in a different grade or course than expected; try the search box without a grade filter.

  <Accordion title="What happens when I delete a question or an activity?">
    Its standard links are removed with it. Standards attached to other content are not affected.

  <Accordion title="Do standards change what students see in an assessment?">
    No. They are labels. Students see the chips on the landing page and nothing changes in the questions themselves.

  <Accordion title="Where will mastery by standard show up?">
    That's the next phase: a "By standard" view on the classroom Grades tab and a standards dimension in institution dashboards, both built from question-level tags.
