Creating a student account is free. You’ll be enrolled in your teacher’s classroom as part of signing up, so everything they’ve published is waiting for you the first time you log in.

What you need first

  • Your classroom code. An 8-character code from your teacher, like KJ4M7NRW. You cannot create a student account without one — sign-up and enrollment happen together.
  • An email address your school accepts. Personal providers (Gmail, Outlook, Hotmail, Yahoo, iCloud) are not accepted. Use your school address.
  • A parent or guardian’s email address, if you’re under 13. See If you’re under 13 below.
Your teacher may send you a link that already has the classroom code filled in. If so, just check the classroom name shown under the code field matches your class.

Signing up

Open the registration page

Go to app.chimeedu.com/register and choose the student option, or click the link your teacher sent you.

Enter your classroom code

Type the 8-character code. ChimeEdu checks it as you type and shows the classroom name and your teacher’s name once it matches — confirm that’s your class before continuing.

Answer the age question

You’ll be asked “Are you at least 13 years old?” Answer honestly — it decides what happens next.

Fill in your details

Your name, your email address, and a password of at least 10 characters with an uppercase letter, a lowercase letter, a number, and a symbol. A username is created for you, and you can change it.

Accept the terms and create the account

Tick the box to accept the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, then choose Create Account.

Confirm your email

Click the link in the confirmation email ChimeEdu sends you. The link lasts 24 hours. Once confirmed, go to the sign-in page and log in with your email address and password.

If you’re under 13

If you answer No to the age question, ChimeEdu asks for a parent or guardian’s email address and sends them a message asking them to approve your account.
Your account stays locked until your parent or guardian approves it — you won’t be able to sign in before then, even after confirming your own email. The approval link is valid for 7 days. If it expires, ask your teacher to help you start again.
Once approval comes through, sign in normally.

After you sign in

You’ll land on your student dashboard with your classroom already attached. From there you can open any quiz, assessment, flash card deck, map, timeline, study guide, or Experience your teacher has published. To join a second classroom later, you don’t need another account — enter the new classroom code in the Join form on your dashboard. See Joining your teacher’s classroom.

Troubleshooting

Codes are 8 characters, letters and numbers only. Check for mistyped characters, and make sure you’re using a classroom code — the 6-character code for joining a live quiz is a different thing. If it still fails, your teacher may have regenerated the code; ask them for the current one.
ChimeEdu doesn’t accept personal email providers like Gmail or Outlook. Use the email address your school gave you.
Check spam and junk first. You can resend it from the sign-in page after a blocked login attempt, or from the confirmation page if your link expired.
