Some teachers create ChimeEdu accounts for their class instead of asking everyone to sign up. If that’s you, you have a username like jdoe27 and a passcode like tiger-4827, usually on a card. You don’t need an email address at all.

Signing in

1

Go to the sign-in page

2

Type your username where it asks for an email

The first box says Email or username. Type your username there. Capital letters don’t matter.
3

Type your passcode as the password

Type the whole passcode, including the hyphen: tiger-4827, not tiger 4827.
4

You land on your dashboard with your teacher’s classroom already there — no class code needed.
Keep your login card somewhere safe. Anyone with the card can sign in as you.

Forgot your passcode?

Ask your teacher. They can give you a new one from the class roster in a few seconds. Your old passcode stops working the moment they do, and you’ll be signed out on any device that was still signed in. The Forgot password link on the sign-in page won’t help, because it sends an email and your account doesn’t have one.

Want a different passcode?

In Account Settings → Security you can change it yourself with Change password — type your current passcode, then the new one. A passcode you choose has to be a proper password: at least 12 characters.

Adding an email (optional)

If you have a school email address, you can add it in Account Settings → Add an email address. ChimeEdu sends a confirmation link to that address; once you click it:
  • you can sign in with either your username or your email
  • Forgot password works for you
  • results your teacher releases can reach you by email as well as in ChimeEdu
Your username keeps working, and your teacher can still reset your passcode. Personal addresses like Gmail can’t be used, same as for everyone else on ChimeEdu.

Good to know

  • Without an email, everything from ChimeEdu arrives inside ChimeEdu — check your dashboard and notifications rather than an inbox.
  • Your teacher created the account, so they can reset the passcode, change the username, or delete the account.
  • Accounts made this way are set up for younger students: no marketing, no mailing lists.

Troubleshooting

  • “Invalid email or password.” Check the card again: the username has no spaces, and the passcode needs its hyphen and all four digits. If it still fails, your teacher may have reset it — ask them.
  • The Email box won’t accept the username. Make sure you’re on app.chimeedu.com/login, not the sign-up page. The sign-in box accepts both.
  • Continue with Google or the emailed sign-in link don’t work for you. Both need an email address on the account. Use your username and passcode, or add a school email first.
