The ChimeEdu AI Creation Assistant turns a plain-language request into a ready-to-review draft of real ChimeEdu content. Tell it “Make a flash card deck from the vocabulary in the attached file” or “A 10-question quiz on the water cycle for 6th grade”, and it drafts the content, shows you a preview, and creates it only when you confirm.
The Creation Assistant requires a Premium account (Administrator and Super Administrator accounts also have access). It is powered by Claude.

Opening the assistant

There are three ways in, all from anywhere in your teacher dashboard:
  1. The Search & Create palette — press ⌘K (Ctrl+K on Windows) or click the dashboard search bar, then choose Ask ChimeEdu AI in the palette’s footer. Anything you had typed comes along as your starting prompt.
  2. “Create with AI?” — hover any Create a new… action in the palette (New Classroom, New Activity, and so on) and click the chip that appears.
  3. Start typing a request in the palette — the AI option is right there in the footer.

What it can create

Mind maps, Venn diagrams, line/scatter/pie graphs, and study guides aren’t drafted here yet — for study guides, use Study Guide drafting.

Grounding your draft in your material

The assistant works best when you give it something real to work from. In Context sources you can attach:
  • Reference files — PDFs and text formats (TXT, MD, CSV, JSON, HTML, XML), read in full.
  • Google Drive — pick files or folders; Docs, Sheets, Slides, PDFs, and text files are read in full (folders one level deep). Anything unreadable is listed in the preview so you know exactly what was used.
  • Your classrooms — link one or more classrooms and the assistant grounds the draft in their existing activities and material. The created content links to the first selected classroom.
A promise about facts: the assistant is instructed to draw historical, literary, and other substantive content only from the materials you attach. If your materials don’t cover what the request needs, it says so in the preview instead of inventing content — and general technical knowledge (how a circuit works, say) is the only thing it supplies on its own. Always review the preview; you’re the editor.

Review before anything exists

Every generation ends in a preview: the type badge, title, item counts, sample content, the sources it used, and any warnings. From there:
  • Create it — the content is created for real and you get a link straight to it.
  • Refine — go back, adjust your request, and redraft. One refinement per draft is free — it doesn’t use a generation.
  • Discard — nothing is created, nothing is kept.

Usage limits

Premium includes 5 generations per day and 20 per month (plus that free refinement per draft). Your daily meter is on the dashboard — hover its info icon for the monthly count and when it resets — and Account Settings → AI Usage shows both meters plus a summary of everything the assistant created this billing month.

Privacy

Your prompt and attached materials are sent to Anthropic’s Claude API for the draft and are not stored by ChimeEdu — Drive files are read transiently for your request only. File contents are treated strictly as reference data, never as instructions. Only content you explicitly confirm is created, and it’s never issued to students automatically.
