Creating an Assessment

Open New Assessment
From your teacher dashboard, click New Assessment to open the assessment builder.

Add your questions
Add as many questions as you need — mix and match question types freely within the same assessment.

Configure timing (optional)
Set an overall time limit for the whole assessment, or configure individual per-question timers. Students see a live countdown as they work.

Add a featured image or icon (optional)
Attach a featured image or choose an icon to make the assessment easy to identify in the student feed.

Review in preview mode
Toggle the assessment into preview mode to check layout, question order, and answer options before anyone else sees it.

Publish to your classroom
Set visibility to Published to push the assessment to every enrolled student’s feed instantly.
Students receive both an email notification and an on-platform notification when you publish an assessment. They won’t miss it.
Auto-Grading
Objective questions — multiple choice, true/false, and matching — are graded the instant a student clicks submit. Results appear in your submission dashboard in real time; there is nothing you need to do to trigger scoring. Written responses (short answer and long-form) are placed in a separate review queue. You can annotate each response and release written-response scores independently, at whatever pace suits your workflow.Students see their score immediately for objective questions. Written-response scores are only released to students after you complete your review.
Submission Tracking
Your submission dashboard gives you a live view of the entire class as the assessment runs:- Submitted — students who have completed and handed in their assessment.
- In progress — students currently working through questions.
- Not started — students who have not yet opened the assessment.
Per-Question Analytics
Once submissions close, ChimeEdu calculates per-question performance across the whole cohort. You can see at a glance which questions had the lowest average scores — pinpointing exactly where students are struggling before you plan your next lesson.Assessment Settings
