ChimeEdu is in Closed Alpha. Registration is currently by invitation only. You need a personal invitation token issued by the ChimeEdu team before you can create an account — the sign-up form will not submit without one. If you’d like to join the Alpha, get in touch.

Before you start

Two requirements catch people out:
  • Your invitation token. An 8-character code issued to you by the ChimeEdu team. It’s tied to the email address it was issued for, so register with that same address.
  • A school or institutional email address. ChimeEdu does not accept personal email providers — Gmail, Outlook, Hotmail, Yahoo, iCloud, Proton, AOL, and disposable-mail domains are all rejected at sign-up. Use the address your school gave you.

Creating your account

Open the registration page

Go to app.chimeedu.com/register. While the Alpha is running you’ll see a ChimeEdu is in Closed Alpha banner at the top of the form.

Enter your invitation token

Type the token into the Invitation Token field. It must match the email address you’re registering with.

Fill in your details

You’ll be asked for your name, your school email address, and a password. Choose your role from the dropdown — Teacher, School Administrator, Principal / Dean, Student, or Other. School or institution is optional at this stage.A username is generated for you from your name; you can edit it if you’d prefer something different.

Choose a password

Your password needs at least 10 characters, including an uppercase letter, a lowercase letter, a number, and a symbol. The form checks each rule as you type.

Accept the terms and create the account

Tick the box to accept the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, then choose Create Account.

Confirm your email address

ChimeEdu sends a confirmation link to the address you registered with. You cannot sign in until you click it — the link is valid for 24 hours. If it expires, request a new one from the confirmation page.
No confirmation email after a minute or two? Check spam and junk, and confirm you used your school address rather than a personal one. You can resend the email from the sign-in page after a blocked login attempt.

Your first sign-in

Sign in at app.chimeedu.com/login with your email address and password. (Your username identifies you on the platform; you sign in with your email.) The first time you sign in, ChimeEdu walks you through a short setup flow covering your personal details, your institution, an avatar, communication preferences, and your first classroom and content. Every step after the welcome screen can be skipped and returned to later from Account Settings.
If you teach at a US K-12 school, the institution step lets you pick your school from a verified national database of around 124,000 schools rather than typing it by hand.

Securing your account

Once you’re in, consider turning on two-factor authentication or registering a passkey — see Account Security. Both are optional, and you can use them together.

Troubleshooting sign-up

The token field is empty or the token wasn’t recognized. Check for typos and confirm you’re registering with the exact email address your invitation was issued to.
You’ve used a personal address such as Gmail or Outlook. Register with your school or institutional email instead.
An account already exists for that address. Sign in instead, or use Forgot password to reset it.
Confirmation and sign-in are separate steps — after clicking the link you’re returned to the sign-in page to enter your details. If it still fails, reset your password, then see Account & Login troubleshooting.
