The Search & Create palette is the fastest way to move around ChimeEdu. Press ⌘K (Ctrl+K on Windows) from any page while signed in as a teacher, or click the search bar on your dashboard, and a palette opens over the page.

Searching

Start typing and results appear instantly, grouped by type — classrooms, activities, assessments, study guides, experiences, students, quick actions, and Help Center articles. Filter tabs above the results narrow to one category. Search covers what you own plus public help content; other teachers’ content never appears.
  • ↑ ↓ move the highlight, Home/End jump to the ends
  • ↵ opens the highlighted result
  • esc closes the palette
  • View all results at the bottom takes the query to the full search page, with classroom filters and pagination

Creating

With the palette empty, your five Create a new… actions are right there — Classroom, Activity, Assessment, Study Guide, Experience. Press ↵ on one to jump straight to that creator. Hover (or keyboard-focus) any of those actions and a “Create with AI?” chip appears — one click opens the ChimeEdu AI Creation Assistant with a starting prompt for that content type. The palette’s footer also always offers Ask ChimeEdu AI, carrying along whatever you’ve typed. (The assistant requires Premium; the palette itself is included on every plan.)

Accessibility

The palette is a fully keyboard-operable combobox: focus lands in the search field the moment it opens, the highlighted option is announced to screen readers, result counts are announced politely as you type, and all animation respects your reduced-motion preference.
